NYIM training is recognized by the NYS Education Department. Graduates are eligible to sit for the state exam and are also eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. New York law requires a license to practice massage therapy. The state board exam is offered in January and August. Any student practicing massage before graduation from NYIM training and/or being licensed is subject to immediate termination from the program and will be reported to the NYS Office of Professional Misconduct.
